Street Magician Tries To Sell Weed To A Cop (NSFW)

Here’s an idea: If you’re going to do a magic trick involving making a bag of weed disappear, you probably shouldn’t do it with a cop as your audience.

In this viral video, which has over six million views as of this post, magician Calen Morelli uses an unsuspecting cop as his stooge for a magic trick involving making a bag of weed – or at least, what looks like a bag of weed – disappear. Unfortunately, instead of getting a hearty chuckle, the magician gets manhandled, cussed at, and almost arrested, before being sent away rather rudely.

It’s unclear where the video was shot; obviously it’s not Colorado or Washington – where pot is legal – else the cop would have found a little more humor in Calen’s bit. It’s likely that it was shot in Vegas – according to Calen’s Twitter profile, he splits his time between Oregon and Las Vegas. The cop’s uniform certainly bears similarities to the Las Vegas P.D.’s uniforms, and Vegas cops can be a little… overzealous in enforcing Nevada’s ridiculous pot laws.

Social News Daily writer Dan Evon thinks Calen’s bit is probably fake:

“One theory from YouTube suggests that the cop is probably an actor. Morelli may have also used a few camera tricks to make the prank look real.”

Whether the video is fake or not, it’s clear that Calen Morelli is a talented magician. Seattle Weekly states that Calen has served as a creative consultant for David Blaine and David Copperfield. And Paper Crane Magic calls Calen an up-and-coming magician to look out for:

As of this post, Calen’s YouTube channel has just over a quarter of a million subscribers. All of his videos are of his magic acts, which mostly involve close-up bits done on unsuspecting people.
