Battlefield 3 will span two discs on Xbox 360

In mildly disappointing news for gamers who hate having to swap discs, Electronic Arts confirmed today that Battlefield 3 will span two discs on the Xbox 360.

On one disc you’ll have the full singleplayer experience, while the second disc houses the multiplayer, co-op missions included. And in case you were wondering, Sony fans, the PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 3 will only ship on one disc.

Not content with having that be the only bit of Battlefield 3 news we get today, DICE’s Karl Magnus Troedsson took to Twitter to confirm the obvious, which is that Battlefield 3 will, in fact, get post-launch DLC aside from the Back to Karkand map pack. He said:

“Yes, there will be PDLC post launch. We’ve announced the Back To Karkand pack but there will be more to come.”

Curiously, we haven’t seen Battlefield 3 running on an Xbox 360 since its announcement, aside from the leaked videos that were making the rounds over the past few days. All footage has been running on either the PC version or the PlayStation 3 version, which was first debuted on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

While I’m not a big fan of having to get up and swap discs whenever I feel the urge to dive into multiplayer, it’s far from a deal breaker from me. What about you, though? Is having to swap discs out a deal breaker for you, or is it only a minor inconvenience?
