Dad Lip Syncs Daughter’s Temper Tantrum Better Than Britney Spears, But Is It Bad Parenting? [Video]

A viral video shows a dad lip syncing his daughter’s temper tantrum with hilarious results. But is this good parenting technique or just one way of emotionally scarring a child for life?

In a related report by The Inquisitr, another similarly crazy video show two 30-year-old men lip syncing a 60-year-old women’s conversation. Since this is a story about a lip syncing video, you know I just had to throw in the obligatory Britney Spears joke, right?

Speaking of jokes, this family managed to turn a bad situation into hilarity after they had listened to their six-year-old rage on for over an hour.

Kathy Sterner explains the circumstances:

“I was getting fed up, so my husband decided to lighten the mood. For the record, she’s not typically a beast child – she’s actually a pretty awesome little kid who was having a rough day. She was angry because she was tired and hungry and didn’t like what I’d made for supper and thought she’d prefer McDonald’s. She was screaming ‘Listen to me!’ because she took my refusal to take her up on the McDonald’s idea as a failure to listen rather than a refusal to respond.”

The couple has five kids and their daughter is the second youngest, so they have plenty of experience with temper tantrums at this point. The mom says she filmed the incident while her husband Kerion reacted to the noises from the other room:

“She’d been screaming the same thing over and over for an hour, so it wasn’t hard to anticipate what was coming next, and we could hear her take a breath when she was about to start up again. The ‘Stop laughing at me!’ was a new and unexpected twist, and he went with it. He’s a pretty good actor, and was big into improv when he was younger.”

But not everyone thought the parents were so funny.

For example, Ann Marie Hughes posted:

“Humor is fine for dealing with this. Posting this on the Internet is not. Get the difference?”

The Sterner family responded to criticism on YouTube by explaining what happened after the video ended:

“The minute I turned my camera off, I went back into her room, (which I had been in and out of many times in the last hour – she was NOT left to scream by herself for an hour straight), showed her the video, explained we were laughing at Dad, and the tantrum stopped instantly due to the fact that she was laughing so hard. This was filmed in early July. There hasn’t been a tantrum of this magnitude in our house since.”
