Karl Rove Says President Obama And Democrats Encouraging Impeachment Talks

Despite numerous calls for President Obama’s impeachment in the past, Karl Rove says that it is now the president himself encouraging the current impeachment talk.

In an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal , Rove accused the Democrats of making an impeachment ploy and condemned them for the effort. “Mr. Obama and his party are now claiming in every conceivable setting that Republicans will impeach him if the GOP wins this fall,” Rove said, calling the impeachment talks “complete and utter nonsense.

Karl Rove seems to be in agreement with House Speaker John Boehner, who has ruled out the impeachment possibility according to The Atlantic . Bohner, rather than discuss impeachment, is planning to take legal action against the president for not enforcing provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

The impeachment talks have gained millions of dollars in donations to the Democratic party, leading Bohner and Rove to believe they are a ”fundraising scam” perpetrated by the party and backed by Obama himself.

According to the Washington Post, GOP leaders insist they have no interest in impeaching the president. Although some, such as Sarah Palin, continue to call for impeachment, high ranking Republicans and pundits such as Rove claim to have less interest in removing the president from office.

MSNBC reports that the current impeachment talk began when tea party favorite Sara Palin criticized the president’s handling of the border crisis earlier this month, calling for his impeachment as a result.

After listing a number of Republicans favorable toward impeachment on Tuesday, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said, “That’s an indication that if this is the case, then maybe the speaker should direct that attention and that message to members of his own conference,” referencing Boehner’s accusations .

Rove insists that the Democrats are behind the current round of impeachment talk, however, saying that they are using it to distract voters from other issues and to inspire a “lethargic Democratic base, worn-out and embarrassed by Mr. Obama’s incompetence and lack of leadership.”

In an interview on FOX News’ On the Record with Greta Van Susteren , Karl Rove accused President Obama of “Playing with the American People by suggesting a constitutional crisis where none exists.” Rove also condemned Republicans by saying, “Shame on conservatives and Republicans who helped him along.”

Rove added that the president “wants nothing more than Republican and conservative leaders to step forward and say ‘We agree, we ought to try and impeach him.’ That’s what the president wants, Just like he wanted people to step forward on the birther issue because he knew it undermined the credibility of the Republicans and conservatives and served his, President Obama’s, purposes.”
