Paris Hilton On Growing Up, Returning To Music, And Letting Good People In Her Life

Paris Hilton has been trying to make her own name for herself her entire life. The 33-year-old heiress to Hilton hotels has been keeping busy, working to create her own identity past the socialite notoriety and famous last name.

In addition to a successful perfume line and so-so singing career, last year Paris decided to step into the world of DJing. She launched her international DJ career at Amnesia nightclub in Ibiza, saying she “killed it.” The reviews weren’t as kind, as one commenter marked her DJ stint there as the “end of Ibiza,” but it wasn’t going to stop Paris.

Her entrance back into the music scene prompted her latest single, “Come Alive.” “It’s about that feeling when you’ve just fallen in love and feel so alive – it’s the best feeling in the world,” Paris says, who’s been dating Spanish model River Viiperi for the past few years. Though most criticize Paris’s efforts at becoming a pop star, Paris is done paying attention to the naysayers. “If people want to be mean, that’s their problem. It used to be really hurtful. I would cry to my mom all the time but now I just laugh.” She’s also better about who she lets into her life, saying, “So many people have bad intentions, so many girls want to hang out to be someone. I weed those people out of my life.”

One “bad intention” Paris has learned from is her infamous sex tape, as we’ve reported earlier. The video, now ten years old, was released by ex Rick Salomon and cheekily titled “1 Night In Paris.”

“It was devastating because that was someone I was with for a few years. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully trust any man again after that. It was just the most hurtful and awful thing that anyone could do to a little girl. I was very young, it wasn’t my fault.”

And as for the rumors that she leaked the video herself as a publicity stunt? “If I was going to do something like that I would look hot. I looked gross in that video.” Now, ten years later, Paris is making much smarter decisions. “Now, when I’m looking for a guy, I’m always thinking of someone who is like my dad: a loyal person with a good heart, because that’s all that matters in life.”
