Ariana Grande Hosts ‘Total Request Live’, Debuts New Single “Break Free”

Ariana Grande’s star definitely seems to be on the rise lately. In recent news, she has been tapped to star in a special taping of MTV’s show Total Request Live. The segment, which aired yesterday, attended the taping yesterday in New York after creating a Twitter frenzy with her 16 million Twitter followers when she announced her involvement with the show.

Daily Mail reports that Ariana would have been just five years old when the first episode of TRL aired. During Total Ariana Live, she looked fabulous in a white miniskirt, black halter top, and black leather heels. Her hair was pulled back in a sleek ponytail as she interacted with the host Sway Calloway.

Ariana would also take the opportunity to debut her new single during the segment of TRL. The single is called “Break Free” and is a collaboration effort between Grande and DJ Zed. According to Zed, the song will “be a really big song for the summer”. DJ Zed also offered the following insight to MTV:

It is a mix of her because she has a really special voice, and obviously you kinda of clearly hear me in the song, so I think it’s more unusual for her than it is for me ’cause I do this all the time.

Ariana Grande seems excited to be taking a new approach to creating music, according to DJ Zed, “For her, I think it’s the first time she has made a song like that so she is really stoked about it.”

According to Complex, Ariana engaged in an active live Q&A during the special segment of Total Ariana Live. This gave fans of the 21-year-old singer a chance to shoot her questions via Twitter. She also espoused her knowledge of hip-hop music and performed a racy rendition of her hit song “Problems”.

Ariana also took her appearance on TRL to announce that she will be performing her new song ‘Break Free” live at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, which is set to air on August 24th. This year, the MTV VMAs are moving back to California and Inquisitr.com will follow all the VMA news as it unfolds.

As far as Ariana Grande’s new album is concerned, the sophomore effort will be available for purchase directly after the awards show on August 24th, and is titled My Everything.
