Henry Cavill As Superman In First Official ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Photo
Superman is back in the form of Henry Cavill sporting his costume in a new photo released by Warner Bros., for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the first officially released pic and our first look at the British actor, who played the superhero in Man Of Steel.
Fans who have been waiting for news on how this Henry Cavill will look, are thrilled to see that he looks pretty much the same as he did in Man of Steel. It is not clear, however, how much of the focus of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be on Clark Kent’s alter ego.
Of course we know the title includes Henry Cavill’s Superman as one of the main characters in the film, but director Zack Snyder has been adding on some big names to his cast and people haven’t been talking about Superman too much. It is a welcome sight to see Henry in his suit again.
The photo shows a dark, rainy night, with what we pressume is Gotham City in the backdrop, as Cavill in full Superman gear stands looking troubled. Brow furrowed, fists clenched, Superman looks like he is ready for battle. Against Batman?
Man Of Steel served as an introduction to what will become an expanded DC Comics universe in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Snyder says that Superman/Clark Kent will have an opportunity to develop as a character. This time around, with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) — two of the good guys — Henry Cavill will have his hands full, fighting Batman and company.
For Warner Bros. and Snyder, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the building block that will lead into the much anticipated and talked about Justice League. WB is determined to step up their productions to compete with the very successful Marvel blockbusters and this is just the beginning.
Snyder promises a thicker, denser, and more epic movie and says Cavill’s Superman/Clerk Kent continues to grow as a character, this time in his job at the Daily Planet. Henry is a lot more comfortable in his role and Snyder will take advantage of that.
“We’ve both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit,” he says. “The more time I spend with Henry, the more he’s Superman to me.”
And even though Snyder admits that digging into and developing the character is a challenge, it’s also “the fun of trying to figure out what to put in front of him that’s difficult.”
The director says that only a handful of scenes between Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck (Batman) have been filmed so far and the significance of the event is not lost on him. “It’s never really been done and it’s kinda cool.” Snyder says.
“You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it’s Batman and Superman, let’s just be honest,” Snyder adds about his epic film. “I don’t know how you get bigger than that.”
