Harrison Ford Peg Leg: Actor Steps Out With Peg Leg After Breaking Foot On Movie Set

Harrison Ford stepped out with a peg leg after he broke his foot on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII two weeks ago. According to the Mail Online, Ford was given a “peg leg” to help him balance while his foot is in a cast. The 71-year-old actor is doing okay following the incident, but he’s still not able to put any weight on his foot at all. He is able to get himself around — and he even refused help when he was walking down a flight of stairs outside London’s exclusive 34 restaurant in Mayfair. That’s a pretty good sign, right?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Ford is out of commission for the next six months. Although he is determined to get back on set, Ford can’t do very much without being able to walk. Some wonder if he will be replaced or if his character, Han Solo, will be killed off in the film.

Harrison Ford is good to few on a peg leg. While he is recovering and is getting around the best he can, he can’t possibly be in a movie that requires him to walk around — unless, of course, there was some serious CGI and camera tricks implemented, but it would be a lot of work, and likely quite costly for filmmakers. It doesn’t seem like Ford is mobile enough for that anyway.

This isn’t the first time that Ford has gotten injured on set, either. He has pulled various muscles and even damaged a disc in his back while doing stunts for Indiana Jones.

Ford previously said:

“Although I do my own running, jumping and falling, I always try to keep myself from being hurt. So I know what will work and what won’t.”

Unfortunately, Ford couldn’t stop the Millennium Falcon from dropping on him on set. He was rushed to the hospital and needed to have surgery on his foot, but he will be okay… eventually. According to SF Gate, seeing Ford on his feet (well, foot) is a great sign. If he’s up and moving around, even if it’s slower than normal, it’s a sign that he’s getting better.

“The sight of the actor bouncing back from the injury is good news for Star Wars producers and director J.J. Abrams — they have continued to shoot in Ford’s absence and are determined to stick to Episode VII’s planned release date of December 2015.”
