Dogs have undoubtedly proven their ability to learn mind-boggling tricks and the ability to follow commands, but sometimes these canine companions can surprise us humans. One such family dog, aptly named First Buddy, managed to teach the family’s adorable baby girl about the elementary steps in moving ahead, on all fours.

First Buddy has certainly flipped an ages-old idiom on its head by teaching a young baby some new tricks. The adorable footage shows Buddy the Jack Russell, giving this 7-month-old some much-needed lessons in crawling. The video, uploaded on video sharing portal YouTube, has already surpassed 2 million views, and shows how an animal is enthusiastically attempting to teach a toddler how to go about the house, reported NY Daily News .

The video starts with the baby, lovingly called Bear Bear, struggling to grasp the basic fundamentals of crawling. She flips her legs, but isn’t able make any progress. Bear Bear tries valiantly, but seems to struggle to get the hang of this “crawling” thing, reported Buzz Feed .

That’s when the house pet, First Buddy, appears worried that the little girl is unable to move her way across the rug. He studies the situation and the seemingly stuck marooned baby for some time before taking charge of the situation.

Sliding alongside the baby, First Buddy does something truly amazing for a young Jack Russell. The dog hikes his front paws and slides ahead of the baby, showing how it’s done. But what’s even more surprising is that the dog drags his hind legs. Perhaps realizing that the baby isn’t able to use her legs, the dog shows just how easy it is to crawl even if one chooses not to use the legs in the beginning.

The mere 26 second clip is very short and was shot by Bear Bear’s mother, Valerie Stevens-Scott. Titled Buddy’s Baby Crawling School, the clip clearly shows how deeply the dogs are emotionally connected with babies and understand their state-of-mind. Moreover, First Buddy showed exceptional perseverance and ingenuity in coming up with one the best “show-n-tell” methods for a baby to instantly grasp.

If viewers are disappointed with the painfully small duration of the clip, the mom has uploaded a Part 2 of the video, titled Buddy’s Baby Crawling School II, which shows just how playfully determined the dog is. You just have to watch this clip, which clearly shows the dogs determination in getting Bear Bear to crawl, even it means rolling on the floor enticing the toddler to reach out.
