‘The View’ Firings: Entire Cast Fired Except One Co-Host And A ‘Very Real’ Chance Rosie O’Donnell Will Be Back

The View is seriously in the midst of a total shakeup. Extreme measures are taking place with drastic changes involving the cast. TMZ released an exclusive report late Thursday, confirming that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are fired from the ABC talk show. Whoopi Goldberg is the only one remaining.

According to TMZ’s report, executive producer Bill Geddie will also be leaving. Network sources spoke directly with the celebrity news source and tells them that there’s a “very real” chance Rosie O’Donnell will be returning to The View. Insiders familiar with the situation say producers are “very interested” in Laila Ali. Producers are also interested in Ross Matthews and Jess Palmer.

In an interesting note, Barbara Walters will appear on the show Friday. News of the firings came Thursday, but Barbara Walters taped her segment Wednesday. She retired in May, but remains as one of the show’s executive producers.

McCarthy tweeted this Thursday:

“My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year.”

RadarOnline published a report Thursday announcing that Sherri Shepherd is leaving The View. She’s been with the show seven years. In November, Radar reported that Sherri was “looking for new opportunities.”

Jenny McCarthy tweeted at 6: 07 pm Thursday:

“If Sherri goes… I go too. #sisters “

Reports suggest that both Sherri and Jenny were shocked at the firings.

Sherri Shepherd released this statement directly to Deadline:

“It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.”

Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselback left the show last year, leaving a dynamics crisis at the table. Finding the right chemistry for the whole cast is proving to be a far more arduous task for producers than originally thought. Joy’s seat has yet to be filled, but a never-ending roster of guest co-hosts have joined the rest of the cast at the table.

If Rosie O’Donnell actually does return, will she remain on the show?

News of The View firings came as a surprise to fans. Hopefully the network will find new co-hosts who hit it off with Whoopi and all will be back to normal again.
