Did Lana Del Rey and boyfriend Barrie-Jamie O’Neill just experience a painful breakup? According to the songstress’ main squeeze, their relationship is safe and sound.
The singer’s fans collectively gasped earlier this week when rumors suggested that she and O’Neill had decided to split. According to Just Jared , Lana Del Rey spilled the beans about her failed romance during a recent interview overseas. Since her boyfriend claims this isn’t the case, perhaps something was lost in translation.
Lana reportedly explained:
“We are currently not together. He is a wonderful person. But there are some things with which he has to deal. I will not explain it in detail. This was hard on our relationship, I no longer felt free. We’ll see how it goes.”
Despite what Lana Del Rey said about the breakup during that interview, O’Neill claims everything is fine and dandy behind-the-scenes. Of course, it’s unknown if Lana’s boyfriend (fiance?) simply hasn’t received the memo yet. Since the singer has remained tight-lipped about the matter since the news surfaced, it’s currently her word against his.

“It’s not over. Don’t believe what you read. It’s just stories, man. Bedtime stories,” he recently explained to TMZ .
This isn’t the first slice of Lana Del Rey gossip to pop out of the rumor mill in recent days. Us Weekly reported earlier this year that the “Video Games” singer and her boyfriend were secretly engaged. If the latest reports are true, then their trip down the aisle was effectively cut short. However, Lana’s rep never confirmed or denied the rumors .
The singer previously said of her relationship to O’Neill:
“When I found somebody who I fell in love with, it made me feel different than I felt the rest of the day. It was electrifying. That’s what inspired the ‘Off to the Races’ melodies. That’s one of the times when you’re feeling electrified by someone else and they make you happy to be alive.”
Not surprisingly, fans are more than a little upset about the Lana Del Rey breakup rumor. While some believe the split confirms that true love is just a myth, others are more interested in putting the focus back to the singer’s music.
