Luke Bryan Performs To Sold-Out Crowd At Heinz Field, Wild Fans Spark Controversy, Arrests

Country music megastar Luke Bryan took to a historic venue on Saturday night, playing to a sold out crowd of 50,000 enthusiastic fans at Heinz field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The show included Dierks Bentley and Bryan’s tour mates Lee Brice and Cole Swindell.

Apparently Luke Bryan was touched by all the support as were his cohorts. Bryan later released a statement saying:

Just had the most unbelievable night of my life.

His tour mate, Dierks Bentley also tweeted the following about last night’s show:

Pittsburgh… y’all that were there know some special s–t went down tonight.

To which Cole Swindell followed up with his own tweet:

Thank you FANS for an unbelievable night. WOW we played @heinzfield boys!

The aftermath of Saturday night’s show has left the city of Pittsburgh in a state chaos as fights broke out and arrests were made. The 50,000 fans showed up as early as nine hours prior to the time that the opening act would take the stage and partied well into the night after the show was over. According to the report on Penn Live, the damage was pretty severe:

15 fights broke out, 34 people were taken to hospitals and at least 150 emergency calls… At least seven people were arrested and large piles of trash have been left in the parking lots and surrounding neighborhoods.

On Sunday, Bryant took to his Twitter account to implore fans to clean up their messes that they have left behind: “I know your guys have heard. Be mindful of your tailgate area. Clean up please. We wanna come back many more times.”

All the trouble that came as a result of these rowdy fans has the city of Philly concerned and city officials are thinking about beefing up security. As of the time of this report, no extra measures have been taken to restrict tail-gating at Bryan’s Philly stop at Lincoln Financial field.

Luke Bryan grew up in Georgia and has sold more than 6 million copies of his albums and charted ten number one singles throughout the course of his career. His tour hits cities across the United States, with the tour culminating at the Hollywood Bowl. He is also currently in the running for a Male Vocalist of the Year award at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. Also in the running for this same honor are Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Jake Owen, and Hunter Hayes.
