Police Halt A Man Doing 100MPH, But Don’t Even Give Him A Ticket, Why?

Whenever one sees a car chased by police vehicles, the vehicle being pursued, is assumed to be either stolen or part of a criminal activity. The reasons for police officers to be in a hot pursuit of an excessively speeding vehicle are almost always criminal in nature. But in a recent case, the officers who chased a vehicle doing 100MPH on M275 highway in Hampshire, southern England, weren’t prepared to even hand-out a ticket or a citation.

Colin Ellmore was speeding at 100 MPH (160 Km/h) on the highway whose speed limit was neddless to say, way lower. But he wasn’t racing his vehicle; neither was he running away from the law. Instead he was in a tearing hurry to reach somewhere, reported The Mirror.

When highway patrol officers got wind of the speeding vehicle they naturally gave chase. Along the highway, there were seven police officers in four unmarked vehicles. Slowly or rather eventually all joined the chase. Explaining the chase, Sergeant Simon Goss of the Hampshire Police said, “We [officers] boxed [the car] in forcing it to stop and when it did the driver got out and we thought he was running off. But he ran around the car to the passenger side and shouted something about a baby. When we got to the car, we saw the baby in the man’s hands. I have never experienced anything like it before,” reported Portsmouth News.

Evidently, Colin was speeding solely because he wanted to get his 26-year-old daughter to a nearby hospital. Collin’s daughter Tiffany was in acute labor at the time the duo left their house. Police officers later learnt that Tiffany urged her father to drive her to the hospital, reassuring him that she could ‘hold it in’ till they reached. But apparently mid-way, her water broke and she could no longer hold it. As she severely pushed the driver’s seat from behind, Collin was compelled to drive faster.

However, the patrol officers, unaware of the urgency, skillfully boxed Collin and brought him to a halt, but quickly realized that the situation isn’t what they are used to. Fortunately, upon realizing that Tiffany had almost completed delivering the baby, the squad escorted the father and daughter to Queen Alexandra Hospital, where the doctors completed the procedure and Lola Mia Rose, a healthy girl weighing 6 pounds and 4 ounces arrived, blissfully unaware of the drama unfolding around her.

The cops haven’t charged Collin with speeding or reckless driving. They won’t be giving him a ticket or even a citation, reported SA Breaking News.
