Cristiano Ronaldo Vs. Lionel Messi: Kobe Bryant Weighs In On Who’s The Best

The debate regarding Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi is one that has been going on since both superstars made a name for themselves in the football arena. Now another superstar, Kobe Bryant, a huge football fan, is weighing in on who he believes is the best.

When somebody puts the statement Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi, passionate feelings arise on both sides of the spectrum. There is no question that both are incredibly talented and have some amazing stats to back their title of “best in the world.”

Everyone has an opinion in the Ronaldo vs. Messi debate and both sides emphatically state that they are in the right. To add his two cents to the discussion, Kobe Bryant, of the Los Angeles Lakers, is weighing in.

Bryant shared his thoughts in an interview with Hip Hop Crazy TV recently and his answer may surprise many. According to Kobe, the best footballer in the world should go to Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid striker and captain of his national team, Portugal.

“I think for the last five years, Messi has been the best player in the world. I think this year, Ronaldo has really taken his game to another level to a point where you can consider him the best in the world at the moment. But you always know Messi is lurking in the corner, you know he can explode any given time.”

Ronaldo and Messi have never won a World Cup title for their respective countries, Portugal and Argentina. Both men have a lot of pressure on them at the 2014 tournament in Brazil after less than stellar performances in previous World Cups.

In the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi debates at the World Cup, there are several things that may affect how each star does in the end. Many believe Ronaldo is at a disadvantage since Portugal is not considered one of the top squads in the world, unlike Argentina, who has more depth in its lineup to support their striker, Messi.

Kobe is right on one account, though: This has been Cristiano Ronaldo’s year and he finally snatched the Ballon d’Or from his arch rival, Lionel Messi, after four frustrating years of watching him win the title. Both men play in La Liga, the Spanish Football League, Cristiano for Real Madrid and Leo for Barcelona — neither team was able to win the title this year.

As a matter of fact, Messi and his Barca teammates were shut out of the UEFA Champions League and lost the Copa del Rey final to Ronaldo’s Real, leaving Messi title-less.

The World Cup may not be the best stage to determine who the best is in the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi debate, as both players had a long, tough season with their respective clubs and are not in the best physical condition at this point. But who knows? One of them may surprise us with a performance worthy of the title of “best in the world.”
