Atlanta Braves Send Four Players To Astros For Michael Bourn
The Atlanta Braves are attempting to strengthen their outfield which has been hurt by injuries to Jordan Schafer and Nate McLouth and to begin the rebuilding process they have acquired center fielder Michael Bourn from the Houston Astros.
According to a Tweet by Houston beat writer Alyson Footer:
The Astros traded Michael Bourn to the Braves in exchange for OF Jordan Schafer, LHP Brett Oberholtzer, RHP Paul Clemens and RHP Juan Abreu.
While the deal was sweetened for the Braves according to a Tweet by Ken Davidoff because:
The #Braves will be receiving money from the #Astros in the Michael Bourn trade.
For their cash and player trades the Braves will receive a player who leads the bigs this year with 39 stolen bases, a total that is more than the Cardinals, Cubs and Tigers have combined. Bourn will also replace the injured Schafer who led his own teams stolen base efforts which totaled 42 as a team.
The move also benefits Houston who have been on a trading tear this week, sending Hunter Pence to the Phillies on Friday before completing their Bourn trade.
