Kate Middleton’s Grandmother Was A Stunner, Just Like Kate
Kate Middleton’s grandmother, Valerie Middleton, worked at the U.K.’s Government Code and Cypher School, at Bletchley Park during World War II. From photos just revealed it seems that she was also every bit as good looking as her granddaughter, the now-Duchess of Cambridge.
Clarence House in London tweeted an image from their archives of Valerie in her army fatigues showing her as a young woman with dark curly hair. The picture bears a striking resemblance to Kate Middleton, with similar cheekbones and a cute smile to boot.
The caption under the image, which delighted Kate, read: “Valerie Middleton, the paternal grandmother of The Duchess of Cambridge, who worked @bletchleypark during #WWII.”
On Wednesday, the Duchess paid a visit to Bletchley Park where she was told stories about her grandmother, and the work she did, from former staffers at the code-breaking facility.
Kate Middleton spoke with a number of different people who either knew her grandmother or had worked with her, including Lady Marion Body who worked closely with her during the war.
Lady Body, who is now 90 years old, said that back in the old days she and the other women who worked at the facility kept their spirits high and had lots of fun together, even though the job itself was a bit “tedious.”
She told reporters: “The Duchess’ grandmother worked on the same desk as me. I had been at secretarial college with those two girls”—Valerie and her twin sister, Mary—”so I knew them very well. They were fun. When you have such a boring job, you had to get on well. We knew exactly what we were doing—it was part of the war effort.”
Kate Middleton reportedly told Lady Body that she recalls her grandmother speaking about her life when she was younger, although, according to her, Valerie didn’t like to speak much about her time during World War II.
