Ryan Gosling Adopted A Baby According To Father’s Day Facebook Hoax

Ryan Gosling adopted a baby for one year and made a huge announcement about it on Facebook after the fact. At least that’s what his fans thought when they saw an unofficial Ryan Gosling page post an image of the actor gleefully holding a baby. While the baby’s identification isn’t known, fans certainly knew the face of The Notebook actor, and the rumor that Gosling had adopted a child for a year spread like wildfire this father’s day.

Soon after the news went viral, the Facebook hoax tricked one million fans into liking and commenting on the announcement. Most left well wishes to Gosling.

The shared photo of Ryan Gosling holding a baby led people to believe that he had adopted the child, but funny enough there was no mention of Gosling’s long time girlfriend, Eva Mendes, in the caption that accompanied the photo. The fact that Gosling is very private should have been a huge red flag for fans, but not mentioning Eva Mendes in the retelling of a failed adoption story would have been an obvious tip off that the Facebook page and announcement was fake.

The post read:

“This father’s day, I’ve decided to tell the story of how I became a father. This little guy was only 9 months old when I became his dad. His mom and I were great friends before she passed away from cancer. I promised her, I’d always look after him. So, I had decided to step up and become his dad. He brought me so much joy. He was my everything.”

Fake Ryan Gosling continued:

“1 year later after the adoption, his biological father wanted him. Of course, I put up a fight, but he won. That 1 year of being his father taught me how to love unconditionally. We have to stop and be thankful for our children and children should stop and be thankful for their parents. What I truly learned most of all is, every child needs love. Save thousands of children and meet me while doing it.”

With no blue verified check in sight on the Facebook page, fans were encouraged to click on the link posted in the announcement. The link lead to a store that allowed Ryan Gosling enthusiasts to buy an “exclusive limited-edition” T-shirt with the words, “Young Wild and Free.” A purchase would count as an entry to win a date with the star, who by the way, was too busy directing his first directorial feature Lost River to adopt a child.

In addition to winning a date with Ryan Gosling the website promised that all proceeds would go to Orphanage Home Foundation, and don’t you know, the foundation doesn’t exist? Shocker.

Fortunately the Gosling imposter’s account has been disabled.
