Mother Of Three Killed While Sticking Her Head Out Of Moving Car To Vomit

In a freak accident which occurred in Mishawaka, Indiana, a 24-year-old mother of three was killed when she stuck her head out of a moving vehicle to vomit.

St. Joseph County’s Fatal Alcohol Crash Team or F.A.C.T. did not release the name of the victim, but many of her family members named the deceased as Amanda Ezra.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning – Father’s Day. Police attributed the accident to a mixture of drunk driving and freak circumstances.

Ezra was riding as a passenger in minivan which was cruising down the 300 block of Chestnut Street. She was reportedly sitting on lap of one of the other passengers when she suddenly felt the need to vomit, and stuck her head out of the window.

Tragically, her head hit something outside; as the vehicle was traveling at considerable speed, Ezra was killed instantly.

Michelle Lyman, a resident living near to the site of the accident told WSBT:“You’ve got a 24-year-old child, you’ve raised to be a young adult and has their whole life ahead of them and it’s snuffed out because of a decision that was made and because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s tragic.”

According to one of the inspectors from F.A.C.T., Tim Spencer, Ezra had been drinking earlier.

Mike Lyman, who spent some time clearing up glass shards left at the scene, said: “It’s just a shame of the amount of people that are getting killed in drunk driving accidents, it’s just something that shouldn’t be done.”

The driver of the minivan has been arrested for DUI and for causing serious bodily injury as well as for leaving the scene.
