Tracy Morgan’s Condition Improves, Upgraded From ‘Critical’ To ‘Fair’

Comic actor Tracy Morgan’s fortunes are looking up, according to a new report. Doctors changed Morgan’s condition on Monday to “fair,” as the comedian continues to heal from serious injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

News broke on Monday evening that doctors had upgraded Morgan’s condition due to continuing improvements in the comedian’s health. Morgan’s assistant, Jeffrey Millea, has also improved in the time since the crash. Ardie Fuqua, who was also in the car with Morgan, remains in critical condition.

On June 7, as The Inquisitr reported, a Walmart truck struck a limousine carrying Morgan and three others. The crash killed James McNair, Tracy’s friend and fellow comedian. Two others were seriously injured in the crash.

Morgan is best known for his work on the hit NBC sitcom 30 Rock, as well as a number of comedic turns on film. Morgan’s family, as well as the families of those injured and killed in the crash alongside Morgan, have asked for privacy and respect during this time. The comic suffered broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg, and a broken femur. Shortly after the crash, doctors described Morgan’s condition as “critical.”

The crash has been the source of no small amount of controversy, with hoax reports arising shortly after that Morgan had died due to injuries sustained in the crash. When those proved false, new reports emerged that Morgan would lose the leg that was broken in the accident. Those, though, proved to be among the more benign incidents to spill out of the accident.

Last week, with Morgan still in critical condition in the hospital, TMZ posted video of the crash’s aftermath. A passerby shot the video shortly after the accident, and it reportedly shows an unconscious passenger being pulled from the wreck.

TMZ‘s decision to post the Morgan crash video drew ire from comedian Louis C.K and director Judd Apatow, who castigated the celebrity muckraker site for seeking to capitalize not only on Morgan’s suffering, but the death and injury of the other occupants of the limo.

Morgan will reportedly be in the hospital for weeks in order to recuperate from his injuries.

The driver of the Walmart truck pleaded not guilty last week to charges of death by auto and assault by auto. He is rumored to have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the accident, though he maintains this is not the case. Instead, the driver alleges he is being made a scapegoat since Morgan and other celebrities were involved in the crash. His bail is set at $50,000.
