Where, Oh Where Will American Idol Hold Auditions This Summer?

Season 14 of American Idol just wrapped late last month with Caleb Johnson as the winner, and already judges are on the road with production crews for Season 15’s coast-to-coast auditions.

This year, for the first time ever, American Idol opened auditions by welcoming attendees of the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar between the ages of 15 and 28, with or without an instrument, to try out for the show, whether they’re officially registered for the audition or not.

Those auditions took place yesterday and wrap up tonight. That’s when American Idol‘s more customary summer auditions kick off, starting at Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

After that, according to the Hollywood Reporter:

Wednesday, June 25, at the Lakefront Arena, University of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Wednesday, July 23, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York.

Wednesday, July 30, at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Tennessee.

Monday, Sept. 29, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.

This means that producers will be shuffling the geographic cards a little, leaving behind longtime auditioning spots like Atlanta.

According to an announcement at American Idol‘s auditions website, producers are leaving behind their old ways of finding new talent:

“Some of our nation’s greatest hidden talent exists right in our own neighborhood, which is why this year American Idol is leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to find America’s next superstar.”

In addition to the hometown auditions listed above, the show will be conducting bus tour auditions all over the country: Portland, Oregon; Portland, Maine; Reno, Nevada; Columbus, Ohio; Richmond, Virginia; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Amarillo, Texas; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Branson, Missouri; Tallahassee, Florida; and Kansas City, Missouri.

They’ve even taken to accepting online video auditions until the end of June. So it’s never been easier to make a fool or a star of yourself on FOX.
