Chelsea Clinton Rocks Black Leather Pants During Pregnancy

Chelsea Clinton isn’t going to let something like pregnancy cramp her style.

The 34-year-old is expecting her first baby with husband Marc Mazvinsky, but instead of opting for the typical dowdy maternity wear, the former First Daughter has chosen some more fashionable attire.

Clinton was spotted attending the 2014 Wildlife Conservation Society Gala in New York City this week wearing a pair of black leather pants along with a black blazer, long necklace, and pair of sharp Christian Louboutin heels.

The fashion choice gave Chelsea Clinton plenty of attention. Yahoo! writer Jenny Depper noted:

“As a rule, leather pants aren’t an easy look to pull off, but Clinton managed to look professional and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll. The former first daughter, who rarely scores well in the style department, is definitely taking some risks with her maternity ensembles.”

It’s likely that Chelsea can make any fashion choice she wants. A report from Politico this week noted that Clinton earned $600,000 from NBC News for her work as a correspondent. Chelsea’s hire by NBC was blasted at the time by many, especially conservatives, who saw it as a strange move.

The New York Post even called Chelsea “just another spoiled, aimless child of rich, successful parents chauffeured through adulthood by Mommy and Daddy’s connections.”

But Chelsea Clinton isn’t even the only former presidential daughter to score a big television deal. In 2009, NBC Universal also hired Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of George W. Bush, to serve as a correspondent on the Today show. In 2011, NBC also hired Senator John McCain’s daughter Meghan McCain as a MSNBC correspondent.

On the fashion front, Chelsea Clinton isn’t the only expectant mom to pull off the black leather pants look. The Yahoo! report noted that Hollywood fashion mavens like Gwen Stefani, Halle Berry, and Kristin Cavallari have also pulled off the pregnancy look to great success.
