Ronda Rousey Fight Against Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino Coming Soon?
Ronda Rousey is someone who quite a few people would like to meet in the ring for a few rounds, and Rousey is in the news headlines a lot these days.
Recently, Cagewriter reported that Rousey may be set to fight none other than Cris “Cyborg” Justino, one of the very best MMA fighters not currently in the UFC. Justino left the UFC just before she fought in the promotion due to a change in weight categories made by the new parent company, Zuffa.
Since then, Justino has focused mainly on kickboxing and MMA and has also been stuck in a war of words with Ronda Rousey and UFC president Dana White.
The insults and trash talk abounded, but an actual fight between the two woman couldn’t happen due to the fact that Justino wasn’t in the same weight category as Rousey. But, according to InvictaFC owner Shannon Knapp, that fight is a reality.
Knapp said during an interview with MMA Fighting:
I haven’t had that opportunity to talk to her, but definitely she has expressed that she wants to go down to 135 and she wants a shot at making her way over there to compete against Ronda,” Knapp said during a recent interview with MMA Fighting. I’m going to do everything I can to help her with that.
The new ruling means that InvictaFC allowed their top 115 pound fighters to attend the UFC for a stab at becoming champion for their weight division. If Justino drops her weight she too will be permitted to go to the UFC.
Knapp also said that she is interested in making some sort of documentary for fans:
We’ll see what she wants to do first but I’m all about getting her on this platform and dropping down and documenting that. Sharing that with the fans. Our goal is to give even more content that what we have given in the past, so we’ll see what she wants to do, but you know what, we’re definitely coming. She’s going to make that move and we’ll see what happens.
It remains to be seen whether or not a Ronda Rousey/Justino fight will happen. What is for sure, is that fans will be very excited if it does, and many believe it is long overdue.
