‘Entourage’ Final Season Kicks Off on HBO
Entourage is back but only for one more season, Season 8, which premeired Sunday at 10:30 p.m. EST. The new season is set for eight episodes.
The popular HBO show, which revolves around fictional movie star Vince Chase – played by Adrian Grenier – and his Queens crew, is loosely based on the life of Hollywood actor, Mark Wahlberg. Joining Vince to round out the Entourage cast regulars is manager, Eric, half-brother Drama, friend Turtle and agent Ari.
Season 7 of Entourage left off with Vince having a major cocaine problem– After his friends stage an intervention and he loses his girlfriend, porn star Sasha Grey, he becomes reckless and heads to Eminem’s party. Ultimately, Vince gets beat up at the party and hospitalized, where police discover a bag of cocaine in his sweater.
Season 8 picks up where the boys left off: Vince resurfaces from rehab after being 90 days clean; Drama is seen taking part in a cartoon show,”Johnny Bananas”; Eric finds trouble in paradise with Sloan and Vince begins pushing a script he wrote.
Debuted first in 2004, the show became a hit and equivalent to Sex & The City for the men. Over the years, the movie has been nominated for 25 Primetime Emmy Awards, 14 Golden Globe Awards and six Screen Actors Guild Awards. Like S&TC, rumors hint at a possible movie following the season’s end and according to Pop Sugar, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui says a movie is a “definite possibility.”
