Harry Potter Stars Reunite To Preview Diagon Alley

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley attraction is opening this summer in Orlando, Florida, but a few VIPs got an inside look recently, even if they had seen it all before.

Bonnie Wright, Oliver Phelps and James Phelps, best known for playing Ginny, George, and Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter series, stopped by the Orlando theme park to get a sneak preview tour of the attraction,CinemaBlend reports. Photos of the trio enjoying their stay were uploaded to the official Harry Potter Instagram account, giving fans a sneak preview of what they can expect when Diagon Alley opens.

There was much speculation recently about the possibility of a larger Harry Potter cast reunion to promote the attraction. Alan Gilmore, art director for the park and also the Harry Potter films, stoked fan excitement when he spoke to MTV News.

Talking about the new ride “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts,” which opens as part of Diagon Alley, Gilmore said that main cast trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint would be reuniting for new scenes that would be used for the ride. “It’s all new, it’s a brand new film,” Gilmore said of the scenes, quashing any speculation that leftover footage from the films was used, adding, “It’s absolutely film quality, involving the films team, a merging of the film team and the Universal production team.”

Actor Daniel Radcliffe, speaking to the Daily Beast last month, asserted that such a project would be news to him. “I know nothing about that,” Radcliffe said, adding that while the Harry Potter theme park may use preexisting footage, he has his own reasons to no longer be involved:

“A while ago they asked me to do more stuff for the theme park, and that was my moment to try and draw a line because that theme park is going to keep expanding, and keep going to more countries, and there’s going to come a point where I’m going to be 30 years old, and if I was still doing that then, that would be a huge problem.”

Whatever the truth behind the rumors, Harry Potter fans still have much to look forward to. As The Inquisitr previously reported, a spinoff movie, Strange Beasts and Where To Find Them, hits theaters in 2016. While Potter fans have held out hope that Radcliffe, Grint and Watson would reunite for that film, Radcliffe refuted the idea in his Daily Beast interview, saying he’s “totally not involved” in the film.

In the meantime, fans will be able to check out Diagon Alley when it opens at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter later this summer.
