Indiana Jones 5 is making steps forward, but with Harrison Ford becoming a little old for the role and Shia LaBeouf having allegedly quit Hollywood, it’s apparent that the series might need a reboot or prequels, possibly Star Trek style. Robert Pattinson is being considered as a replacement to don the fedora and whip, which might seem like a terrible choice if you’re only thinking about his role of Edward Cullen from Twilight.
The Twilight Saga was the series that Pattinson became famous for, though he has had roles which gained him a lot less infamy. He once played the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a much more heartfelt performance in general. Pattinson has also been in several other less famous films such as Water for Elephants, Bel Ami, and Remember Me, showing he has a better range than what the public knows him for.
The next film in the classic action archaeology franchise might not be titled Indiana Jones 5 if Robert Pattinson does take over the role made famous by Harrison Ford. He isn’t the only one in line for the role, either.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, it had been rumored that Bradley Cooper was being considered for the title role as well, but that was proven false. Some might consider him a better choice than Pattinson though, in spite of shaky roles like the last Hangover and The A-Team.
An insider issued the following statement about the possible recasting of the title role of Indiana Jones:
“Disney is looking at its long-term options for the Indiana Jones franchise. They feel that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies. Rob is top of the initial list because he has showed his acting stripes away from Twilight. But the competition will be stiff.”
Harrison Ford was said to have signed on for two more movies in the series, but it could also have been a bit of his dry wit. He has been known to pull off comedy with a straight face before, like one time when he argued with a man in a Chewbacca costume after stating he wasn’t going to talk about Star Wars.
What do you think of the possibility of Robert Pattinson being cast in the title role in Indiana Jones 5? Could it make his career, or further damage the franchise?
