Miranda Lambert Speaks Out On Pregnancy And Divorce Rumors With Blake Shelton
Miranda Lambert has fueled divorce rumors with husband Blake Shelton by including a song on her new album in which she sympathizes with troubled wife Priscilla Presley. Now the country music star is speaking out on reports of trouble in the marriage.
On a song from her upcoming album Platinum, Lambert put herself in Presley’s shoes, saying, “I feel ya, Priscilla.” Miranda said she was quite familiar with the challenge of being “married to a man who’s married to attention.”
The line seemed accurate, as Shelton has seen his career take off with a place as a judge on The Voice and a new slate of commercials.
While both have seen their careers take off, both Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have seen their marriage beset by rumors of trouble. In her new song, Lambert even seems to address reports about why the couple installed an automatic gate on their home, singing, “We had to put up a gate to find time to procreate — at least that’s what we read.”
“Even if it’s people you know, sometimes you need to cement it,” Lambert told USA Today about the real reason the gate was installed. “It’s just like, ‘No one come over; we’re having us-time for a second.’ We haven’t seen each other, and we need to be like, ‘Hey, how was the last five days?’ It just gets too crowded sometimes.”
Lambert also denied rumors that she is anorexic and other reports that say she is pregnant, saying it amuses her to see the conflicting rumors about her marriage.
“I’m not anorexic,” she said. “I’m not sure if I’m not pregnant, because I’m supposed to be having an alien child. That’s the next headline.”
As for having a drinking problem, Miranda Lambert again couldn’t resist poking fun at the rumors.
“The only problem with the drinking is that if [Blake] gets up to make a drink and he doesn’t make me one, I get (mad),” she joked. “It’s like, you better be bringing me a cocktail, too, buddy.”
As for the seemingly never-ending divorce rumors, Miranda Lambert said simply, “I’m happy.” But she said that reporters will have to ask Blake Shelton how he feels.
