Real Life Hoverbike Set To Go On Sale In 2017

Move over Marty McFly! After seeing this video, nobody is going to care about your MAGs or your hoverboard! Nobody is going to have time for that when they are whizzing about on hoverbikes! The cool thing is that the hoverbike revolution isn’t far off. All we have to do is wait three years!

According to a report by IGN, the hoverbike, made by Aerofex and christened the name, Aero X, will be available to own in the beginning of 2017. The cool-looking bike – that looks as if it were ripped out of a Star Wars film – is the end result of fifteen years of research, development, and low-altitude flight. True there are other devices made to be like hoverbikes and they have achieved the relative dream of hovering, but they were also plagued with problems.

In an interview with Discovery News, Aerofex founder Mark De Roche, who was also an aerospace engineer, explains that these hoverbike devices in the past have suffered from the “coupling effect” and that Aerofex has worked hard to overcome the problem.

Coupling is a problem where a rotor driven vehicle will turn when pitched forward due to forces present in spinning rotors. This is an issue with pilots and helicoptors in which they need to learn to compensate this effect by adjusting many different controls simultaneously. The Aero-X hoverbike responds to these and would operate like a regular motorcycle would. Because of its similar reference, Aerofex claims that anyone can drive a hoverbike with just a weekend’s worth of training.

The hoverbike runs on gasoline. Aerofex also claims that maintenance is simple and inexpensive because it was built with few moving parts and powered with a simple rotary engine. However, it seems its simplicity doesn’t reflect its price. If anyone is interested in owning a hoverbike, they can pre-order on on the Aerofex website for just $5,000. In the end though, anyone who pre-orders will have to shell out $80,000 more since the overall price is $85,000. Seriously, that is ridiculous! There are houses on the market that are cheaper than that! But to each their own right?
