Racing fans can watch the Indianapolis 500 live online and see which driver takes the checkered flag in the 98th running of the race.

The race, a Memorial Day weekend tradition, starts at noon on Sunday, with the broadcast on ABC.

Ed Carpenter won the pole for the Indy 500 in a close contest with James Hinchcliffe, who finished a tenth of a second out of the lead.

But fans who watch the Indy 500 live online may have their eyes on another driver. Kurt Busch will start 12th and become the fourth driver to attempt the Indy 500-Coca-Cola 600 double.

Busch will have quite a busy day. He will race in the Indy 500 for roughly three hours, driving the No. 26 Suretone Honda for Andretti Autosport. Then he will have about 2 1/2 hours to make the 90-minute flight and 30-minute helicopter ride to Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he’ll spend the next four hours racing in Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 41 Chevrolet.

”He loves being on the edge. He’s a match for it,” said his former team owner, Roger Penske, a 15-time Indy 500 winner. ”I think he wants to show people he’s the most versatile driver in the paddock.”

Busch is certainly a colorful character, known for his choice words on radio when races don’t go his way. The driver said it’s all part of his competitive nature, which is part of what’s leading him to attempt the double feature on Sunday.

”I’m just a competitor that wants success and wants to be the best any time I get in the car,” Busch said. ”When I don’t achieve that result, I didn’t deal with it the best of ways.”

Fans who watch the Indianapolis 500 live online will get to see a big name from another sport. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been picked as the honorary starter of the event.

“Whether it’s winning an NBA championship or the honor of waving the green flag to start the Indianapolis 500, there are certain sporting events that are monumental for any true sports fan,” Cuban said in a release. “I am excited to come back to Indiana, not just to attend, but actually participate in this historic race.”
