Lea Michele doesn’t enjoy reading about her feud with Naya Rivera.
Folks who aren’t hardcore Glee fans may have missed reports that Michele and her co-star were frequently at odds while filming the popular FOX series. Depending on who you choose to believe these days, the actresses spend more time fighting than they do performing. One rumor suggested that Michele used her clout with producers to get Rivera booted from the show.
“I don’t think there is a story between Naya and Lea. I always marvel at the things that become headline news, that most of the time are completely fabricated,” Glee creator Ryan Murphy recently told Extra.
He added, “Naya’s coming back next year, Lea’s coming back next year. Anybody ever in that cast has an open invitation to come back and finish the character they so beautifully started.”
During her chat with David Letterman, Lea Michele admitted that she finds these rumors more than a little irritating. The actress wishes the media wouldn’t spend a lot of time pitting women against other women simply to generate revenue.
“It’s really unbelievable the amount of things that can just be completely made up. And it’s really frustrating. The way people like to pit women against each other is really annoying and it’s sad,” Michele told the talk show host.
The actress continued, “If there were ever really a catfight on the show, you’d know about it, because I’d get a ring, and I’d put jello in it, and I’d make it fun for everyone, and it would be super hot.”
According to Perez Hilton, Lea Michele and Naya Rivera aren’t exactly the friendliest towards one another on the set of Glee. The celebrity gossip site believes that Rivera is insanely jealous of Michele’s success. Instead of keeping these emotions bottled up, the actress allegedly takes it out on Lea.
“They’re always icy to each other. Naya is jealous that Lea is the show’s main star. They talk behind each other’s backs — a lot. They hate each other,” the anonymous source explained.
However, it would appear that all this alleged behind-the-scenes Glee drama isn’t true. Despite what you may have read elsewhere, Lea Michele didn’t use her superhuman powers to get her co-star fired. Unless the actress and Ryan Murphy are trying to pull the proverbial wool over our eyes, Naya Rivera will return for the next season of the FOX series.
