Christie Brinkley Vows Never to Marry Again
Christie Brinkley, the 57-year-old supermodel and mother-of-three, insists her divorce from fourth spouse Peter Halsey Cook in 2008 has given her jaded view of marriage, the institution which she now calls “ridiculous.”
Christie, whose previous marriage partners include French artist Jean-Francois Allaux, rocker Billy Joel, and businessman Richard Taubman, recently opened up to Britain’s Stella magazine, vowing to never marry another man.
“I can now say unequivocally I would never get married again. There’s absolutely no reason to,” she said.
Brinkley, who accused her ex-husband Cook of using “overwhelming” force with her children, went on to say:
“I learned in my divorce that marriage is ridiculous. You take a vow but you don’t get brownie points when you honor your vow and the other person doesn’t. The court doesn’t recognize that. It’s like, ‘All right now, let’s see how we’re going to divvy up the kids.’ Well, obviously, the one that didn’t break the vows should be the role model, but no.”
Despite her negative stance on marriage, the long-time Covergirl hasn’t ruled out falling in love again, looking to her madly in love parents as a source of hope.
“You’ve gotta believe there are truly compassionate, kind, great people out there…It’s getting harder and I’m a little more wary but I look at my parents, they’ve been together forever and are still madly in love”
