Coheed and Cambria Bassist Arrested for Stealing Oxycontin
Michael Todd, the bass player and backup vocalist for rock band Coheed and Cambria, was arrested yesterday for robbing a Massachusetts Walgreens for Oxycotin just hours before his group was slated to play a show.
According to investigators in Attleboro, about 40 miles south of Boston, Todd entered the Walgreen’s pharmacy after 1 p.m. on Sunday and showed the pharmacist a note on his phone saying he had a bomb.
Todd then walked out with six bottles of Oxycontin in hand and caught a taxi to the Comcast Center, where his band was supposed to be opening for Soundgarden that evening.
According to CBS station WBZ, someone recognized the musician getting into the cab shortly after the robbery and police later arrested him at the concert hall prior to the start of the show.
The band, who went on to play the show without their bassist, has released a statement saying they are “surprised to say the least” by Todd’s behavior and will be replacing him with “longtime Coheed and Cambria family member” Wes Styles for the rest of the tour.
Todd, 30, is scheduled to be arraigned sometime today in Attleboro District Court.
