Kendrick Lamar Album Rumors Are Completely False

Did you hear that Kendrick Lamar has a new album hitting retail shelves this fall? Unfortunately for fans, those reports were nothing but unsubstantiated internet nonsense.

The folks over at Rap Radar reported earlier this week that Lamar would finally release his next album later this year. According to the website, United States of A.L.A.R.M would officially hit stores in September. As it turns out, this report — which included an album cover and promo photo — was false. Don’t bother looking for it; the site has since deleted the original article.

Realizing that they’d made a serious mistake regarding Kendrick Lamar’s next record, Rap Radar tried to fix the problem with a Twitter post. Sadly, it would appear that the damage was already done.

News of Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming album was certainly news to the folks at Top Dawg Entertainment. In fact, TDE’s retOne issued his own 140-character response to the bogus story. Not surprisingly, the label manager wasn’t too thrilled that someone was spreading falsehoods about Lamar’s next project.

“What’s up with these fake a** news stories? unless you see Dangeroo Kipawaa talk about it, s*** ain’t real. That goes for Interscope, news, blogs, etc… If you ain’t see it come directly from us TDE don’t believe ’em,” Kendrick Lamar’s label explained.

Although Lamar’s handlers were understandably irritated by the bogus news story, Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson told XXL that it may work out for Kendrick and the label in the long run.

“I don’t know where that came from. It’s crazy. I mean, everybody got access to Photoshop and they can do they thing. Do whatever they want,” Henderson told the publication.

He added, “I just look at is as a positive. It builds anticipation. You know what I mean? If you’re not getting those types of things, the album not getting leaked and all of that, it shows that there’s no anticipation.”

Here’s the fake promo pic for Kendrick Lamar’s “new album.”

For the moment, it’s unknown when Kendrick Lamar’s next album will find its way into your stereo. If someone starts to tell you all about the rapper’s new record, then you might to let them know they’ve been had by internet pranksters.
