‘Avengers 2’ Filming Locations: Latest Reveal Could Indicate Many Things

The latest reveal of Avengers 2 filming locations has implications that could really affect the whole film across multiple characters. It was recently revealed that the film will be shooting partially in South Africa.

Why is this such an interesting reveal is that the story may partially take place in the fictional nation of Wakanda, home of known Avenger Black Panther, setting him up for later. Another export of Wakanda includes the very metal that Captain America‘s shield is made from, Vibranium.

It is indicated in the Marvel Wiki that in Iron Man 2, Tony Stark solved the poisoning problem in his chest by rebuilding the arc reactor with synthesized Vibranium, and it could be that same metal that SHIELD used to finish Cap’s weapon of choice … his shield. This may be why in that scene the shield was unfinished when Stark used it to level out the machine he created from his father’s plans.

It could be that Howard Stark had been to Wakanda and secretly developed a way to make more, adding a bit more mystery of one of the Avengers 2 filming locations.

A visit to Wakanda could mean that Iron Man’s next suit will also be partly made out of Vibranium, with the rest stolen by Ultron to plate his armor (instead of the original Adamantium). This could make Ultron next to indestructible, and Iron Man the only normal human capable of surviving a direct fight.

The Avengers 2 filming location of South Africa could literally mean that the Avengers are up against a threat they can’t overcome with blunt force. In the first Avengers, there was a scene where Thor slammed his hammer against Cap’s shield and couldn’t even dent it. Instead, the shockwave destroyed the forest around them.

This could be where Scarlet Witch comes in, being the only one of the team so far who doesn’t use blunt force or ordinary weapons. Her powers could reach inside the armor and mess with things.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' villain made of Vibranium?
Could the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ villain be made of Vibranium?

We can’t be sure until we see Age of Ultron, but this could be part of the villain’s origin story the way the movie tells it, especially with Hank Pym’s Ant Man not showing up until later in the series.

Other Avengers 2 filming locations include Northern Italy and Gangnam in Seoul South Korea. Avengers: Age of Ultron is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
