This Is Not A Sexy Video, But These Sexy Models Want You To Watch It To The End Anyway

The title of this video is “The Most Important ‘Sexy’ Model Video Ever,” and the models you’ll see in this clip of just over two minutes are indeed sexy. And the director of the video has them saying sexy things — at first.

But then up comes a set of cue cards that even these sexy models cannot say in a sexy way. And we’ll give them credit, they certainly try. If you watch the video to the end, you’ll get the point.

If it wasn’t clear, those unsuspecting models were brought into that awkward and unsexy situation to make the point that in our culture where sex sells everything and our values can often lean toward the superficial, there are some subjects that will never be sexy no matter who’s talking about them.

But we need to listen anyway.

This “sexy models” video was put together by Save the Children, the 95-year-old global nonprofit group dedicated to the rights of children worldwide. The video is part of Save The Children’s “State Of The World’s Mothers” project that tracks the best and worst places in the world to be a mom raising your kids. (Hint, the best are mostly in Europe and North America, the worst — Africa.)

So while it is a little uncomfortable to watch this group of sexy models attempt to say lines like “Almost 800 mothers and 18,000 young children die each day, mostly from preventable causes,” in a sexy way, it is worth taking in the message that not everything can be sold by a sexy model. But those are the things we really should be buying.
