Demi Lovato Pours Water on Security Guard In ‘Disrespectful’ Gesture [Video]
Demi Lovato has been in the news a lot lately as she embarked on the South American leg of her Neon Lights tour. After setting the Internet on fire with a picture of her barely there bikini and picture of herself sans makeup, it seems that Demi is seeking a different form of attention.
During what is being called a ‘disrespectful’ gesture, Demi is shown (in the video posted above) pouring out a full bottle of water over the head of one of her security personnel. According to Direct Lyrics, the temperatures in Porto Alegre where Demi was performing are only around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so it’s not as if the security guard was in need of a cool down.
Some fans are calling the gesture ‘disrespectful and unnecessary’, and some believe that Demi crossed the line.
Earlier this year, Billboard magazine published a review of the former Disney Channel star’s Neon Lights tour, calling it ‘shimmering’ and saying that ‘Lovato does not yet possess the catalogue of her obvious female pop-rock forebearers, Kelly Clarkson and P!nk, but now has enough rock-solid singles and crowd-pleasing album tracks to compose a lean, covers-free set list.’
The Neon Lights stage show is designed to document her past struggles, including her battles with bi-polar depression, bullying, and her stint in a treatment facility for ‘physical and emotional issues’. Lovatics will be treated to such hits as “Skyscraper,” “Warrior,” “Heart Attack,” “Don’t Forget,” and, of course, “Neon Lights.”
But with these recent antics, one would wonder what the backlash will be for the sometimes troubled star. Was the gesture just in ‘good fun’? Will she cite mental illness for her apparent lack of concern for her security detail? How would she have handled the situation if the security guard had become distracted and allowed his distraction to compromise her safety?
Who knows for certain but it looks like that the show will definitely go on, despite Demi’s antics.
Joining Demi on tour is the quartet Little Mix and Fifth Harmony, a quintet born of X-Factor fame.
