Road Rage Video Goes Viral, Crash Produces ‘Instant Karma’ [Video]

A road rage incident in Florida caught on video is making the rounds online, providing a fine example of universal cosmic justice.

This classic tale of road rage gone badly occurred in Tampa, where 33-year old Jeffrey Travis White was attempting to pass a woman on the highway. White quickly grew impatient, and began to follow rather closely behind the road rage victim, identified as Tracy Lynn Sloan. After the tailgating persisted for several minutes, Sloan decided to begin recording the proceedings on her cell phone.

Have a look at what she captured:

As you can see, after White passes Sloan while gesturing obscenely, he loses control of his truck and ends up taking out a light pole on the other side of the highway. The road rage video closes with Sloan screaming, “That’s what you get! All on video buddy!”, as she passes him on the road.

Rarely will one find such a pure example of karma being served up in a more quick and absolute fashion. Perhaps this explains the popularity of the video online, as the road rage incident has currently been viewed over 4.4 million times since it was posted. The video, titled “Redneck Road Rage/Instant Karma,” is accompanied by some commentary from Sloan, who is identified only as ‘Florida Driver’ on YouTube:

“This happened to me on SR 41 in Tampa on Monday March 24th. This pathetic excuse for a human being tailgated me for about three minutes. After about a minute, and me shaking my head, I pulled out my phone and started recording. I couldn’t move over because there were trucks in the right lane, and I sure as heck wasn’t going to speed on a rainy day with the roads being as slick as they were.”

Sloan provided even more specifics in her summary of the road rage incident, including a message to those who feel she may have been provoking White:

“Not once was I mouthing off, I never brake checked him, and in fact until I watched the video after the accident I didn’t even know he shot a bird at me because I wasn’t looking at him at all, I was paying attention to the road while holding the phone up with my right hand. I’ve recorded circumstances like this before, catching idiots doing stupid things, but never ever had this happen.”

Due to some negative feedback regarding the road rage incident, apparently including some death threats, Sloan decided to disable the comments section of the YouTube video.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, information obtained from the road rage video taken by Sloan ultimately led to the arrest of White at his Tampa home. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

Karma indeed.
