Bruno Mars: Provides Financial Assistance For GRAMMY Camp


Bruno Mars makes headlines today after he announced he wants to send five kids to GRAMMY Camp. Mars is planning to support these five kids financially through his Bruno Mars Scholarship fund. Bruno partnered up with the Hawaii Community Foundation to establish a grant for his scholarship fund. Mars’ scholarship fund will generously cover the tuition fee of one selected student each for five years to attend for the summer, and it’s specifically for U.S high school students.

This is GRAMMY Camp’s 10th year, and it offers high school students an enjoyable, and active music experience. GRAMMY Camp is designed to focus on all aspects of commercial music, and provides the opportunity for students at the camp to work with industry professionals with the best recording studios there is.

The camp offers a variety of career tracks the for the students to follow. There is Audio Engineering, Electronic Music Production, Music Business, and Music Journalism. For students with more vocal talents they have the option to choose: bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, vocal, video production, and songwriting.

The great thing about the camp is that there isn’t just one there’s four for this year, and they are being held at key locations. Neil Portnow is the President/CEO of The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation, he states:

Over the past 10 years, GRAMMY Camp has emerged as one of the most interactive and immerse training grounds for young people interested in a range of careers in the music industry. The program’s success has inspired us to offer a new residential GRAMMY Camp in St.Paul at Mcnally Smith College of Music, and a new non-residential version of GRAMMY Camp in Nashville at Belmont University, in addition to our locations in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California Thornton School Of Music, and in Brooklyn at Converse Rubber Tracks. Frankly, there are no limits on how far we can take GRAMMY Camp given our goal to foster the next generations of music makers.
