Lady Gaga apparently has a true friend in fashion designer Donatella Versace.
It’s not everyday that someone have a loving tribute featured in a major publication. However, that’s exactly what Mother Monster received from her dear friend. Those who decide to spend their money on the Spring issue of V magazine will find a very flattering essay penned by Versace printed on its pages.
In addition to admiring Lady Gaga for her music, Donatella was extremely happy with the way the singer wore her clothes. The designer said Gaga’s appearance in the “Edge of Glory” music video essentially “showed young people around the world the energy and attitude of Versace.”

Donatella added, “It means so much that [Gaga] finds strength and character through dressing in the Versace way. It’s interesting because this is how I’ve always looked, since I was a teenager. I’ve never experimented with different personas in the way that she has. It makes me admire her even more, and makes me even more grateful that she wanted to experiment with the Versace look.”
Of course, Versace isn’t the only person in this friendship to express their feelings with the world. Lady Gaga reportedly penned the ARTPOP tune “Donatella” with the fashion mogul in mind. Not surprisingly, she was completely flattered by the gesture.
The fashion designer explained:
“Of course hearing it for the first time was one of the most incredible moments of last year. It was such an honor that she would even think to write it. She played it for me for the first time at a dinner for my birthday, in her parents’ restaurant, in New York. We listened to it over and over; it was the most special birthday present. I wouldn’t be able to express what I feel about Lady Gaga in lyrics.”
It’s no secret that Lady Gaga has a very serious appreciation for fashion. She recently discussed her obsession with her wardrobe during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. In short: Nobody comes between the singer and her clothes.

“The fashion I’ve acquired over the years is so sacred to me—from costumes to couture, high fashion to punk wear I’ve collected from my secret international hot spots,” Gaga explained.
She continued, “I keep everything in an enormous archive in Hollywood. The clothes are on mannequins, also on hangers and in boxes — I could never sort through it myself! But these garments tell the story of my life.”
