Ellen DeGeneres has tried to put divorce rumors to rest, but reports that she and Portia De Rossi are headed for a costly split still persist.
The rumors have floated for months, saying that relationship troubles are driving Ellen and Portia apart. Sources close to the couple say jealousy and Ellen’s supposedly controlling ways have Portia looking for an exit .
“Portia and Ellen have never had a 50/50, loving relationship like a healthy couple has,” a source told Star magazine. “She reads Portia’s emails and checks her phone to see who she has been talking to. She refuses to let Portia to go out with her friends, and she regulates who is allowed at the house!
“Ellen follows a cynical pattern: She is mean and controlling, then she sees that Portia is pulling away and sucks it up. She’ll cry and tell Portia that she can’t live without her, then spoil her with vacations, cars, and jewelry.”
This week Ellen DeGeneres tried to end the divorce speculation , saying that she and Portia De Rossi are as strong as ever.
“The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. She goes, ‘I didn’t wear it because when I ride horses and I’m holding the reins, it gives me a blister!’” DeGeneres told People magazine in its March 3 cover story.
“The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time,” she continued. “It’s what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We’re really lucky because we know how rare it is.”
But many celebrity news outlets are sticking by the rumors of an Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi divorce. Others note that Ellen has been working hard to put the rumors to rest, also addressing them in December in hopes of stopping the reports.
