Ellen DeGeneres Puts Divorce Rumors To Rest

Despite the tabloid rumors of a possible divorce between Ellen DeGeneres and her wife of six years Portia De Rossi, DeGeneres says they are false and that she loves her wife more than ever.

DeGeneres and De Rossi have been married since August 2008, and have recently been bombarded with gossip about a possible split in their future. The rumors started when a photograph of De Rossi surfaced of her not wearing her wedding ring.

“The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. She goes, ‘I didn’t wear it because when I ride horses and I’m holding the reins, it gives me a blister!'”

That’s a simple enough explanation. Apparently, their marriage is as good as it has ever been, and they are actually in the process of remodeling their home together.

This is not the first time that DeGeneres has had to address rumors regarding her marriage. During a December 2013 episode of Ellen, she put rumors to rest by explaining that the only time she and De Rossi fight is when they fight over who loves who more.

“There’s not one ounce of truth to any of it. I am very happily married. The only thing we ever argue about is who loves who more, it really is true. If there’s anything you need to know, I will announce it here first.”

DeGeneres came out as gay seventeen years ago, and received public scrutiny and isolation for it. “I thought everyone knew me and I didn’t think that one little adjective was going to define me,” DeGeneres told PEOPLE. “I didn’t have perspective for a while.”

While announcing her true identity was not easy, it has helped to develop her into the person that she is today. Not only does DeGeneres have an extremely well accepted television talk show, she is also set to be the host of the 86th annual Academy Awards.

“Now I look at it as a movie that I saw that someone went through, and I only experience the amazing life that I have right now.”

Also, by coming out, DeGeneres gained the love of her life. “I love her [De Rossi] so much it kills me,” she said.

“The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time. It’s what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We’re really lucky because we know how rare it is.”

If everything is going so perfectly in her life right now, why did DeGeneres take on the challenge of hosting this year’s Oscars? She explains that she was too comfortable and wanted to switch things up a bit and challenge herself.

“I thought why not challenge myself? I’m comfortable right now and it’s never good to be comfortable as a performer. Hosting the Oscars is pretty much the scariest thing you can do. To me, this is right up there with bungee jumping!”
