Xbox One Update Finally Gives Gamers More Control Over Their Content

Xbox One owners should prepare themselves for a major update in the coming weeks.

Although you can download games until your little heart’s content, there’s presently no way to monitor how much space you have left on your hard drive. Adding and removing content isn’t a problem, though you definitely start running into issues when you don’t have enough room for your new game.

Thankfully, Microsoft is giving Xbox One owners a bit more control over content management. Instead of simply receiving notifications when you’re running out of space, gamers can soon keep track of these important details themselves.

Unless something drastic happens between now and then, the Xbox One update is presently scheduled to go live next Tuesday (February 11). In addition to granting folks more control over their content, Microsoft will give console owners the ability to change their install lineup and properly manage their download queues.

If that isn’t enough to put a smile on your face, then perhaps the return of the battery indicator will do the trick. The scheduled update will also allow owners to use their USB keyboards with Xbox One.

“We remain incredibly energized and we are aggressively working to make Xbox One better, faster than ever before,” the company said in a recent statement.

This isn’t the only Xbox One update looming on the horizon. Microsoft has another patch lined up that will address issues with the console’s party chat and multiplayer systems. Since the company wants the launch of Titanfall to go off without a hitch, they’re making some necessary changes to get everything in order.

Xbox chief product officer Marc Whitten said this update should launch on March 4. Titanfall is presently scheduled for release on March 11. Whitten believes that console owners will appreciate the upcoming changes.

“[These updates will be the] first of many announcements and sneak peeks at features in the system updates. We’ve been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many new features that will make Xbox One even better. We’re just getting started and can’t wait to share more information in the coming weeks,” Whitten explained.

Xbox One and Playstation 4 are selling quite well after their respective launches last year. However, it’s still a little too early to declare a winner in this race. The machines have sold a combined total of 7.2 million units thus far, which is well above industry expectations.

Are you excited for the upcoming Xbox One update? Do you think Microsoft should have included these features out of the box?
