Brock Lesnar Not Making A UFC Comeback, Dana White Says

Brock Lesnar isn’t coming back to the world of mixed martial arts, UFC president Dana White said in response to rumors that the now-WWE star was coming back.

Speculation had been rampant for weeks that Lesnar was returning to the UFC, but White put an end to the rumors once and for all. In an interview following this weekend’s UFC 169, White said that Brock has absolutely no intention to come back.

“No, Brock Lesnar is not coming back. Brock Lesnar is not fighting. Does he want to come back? We’ve talked about him wanting to come back,” White said. “He feels like he wasn’t 100-percent while he was here. He feels like he sold himself a little short, and all the stuff that I’ve told you before. But no, he’s not. We have no deal with Brock Lesnar. He’s not coming back anytime soon.”

It was actually White who two weeks ago fueled speculation that Brock Lesnar could return to fighting. In an interview in mid-January, the UFC president said that Lesnar expressed “regrets” with the way he left the sport. Lesnar said a return to MMA is a “definite possibility,” White noted.

Throughout his stint in the UFC, Lesnar was dealing with diverticulitis, a debilitating gastrointestinal disease. Back in January, White speculated that Lesnar’s career could have gone much longer if the health issued had cleared up earlier.

“It was fun having Brock here,” White said. “He has some regrets and would he like to fight again? I’m sure he would. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out.”

Brock Lesnar had a quick start with the UFC, winning the heavyweight title in 2008 in only his third fight. After defeating Rand Couture in UFC 91 back in 2008, Lesnar successfully defended his title twice but retired after back-to-back losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem.

After his retirement, Brock Lesnar went back to the World Wrestling Entertainment. He remains under a WWE contract through 2015.
