Bruno Mars Halftime Performance Was The Best Thing About Super Bowl

Bruno Mars’ much talked about Super Bowl halftime performance did not disappoint and for many was the highlight of a game that was marked by the almost unprecedented pounding of the Denver Broncos by the Seattle Seahawks.

Many were — and still are — asking why Bruno Mars was selected to perform during Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show at a game played in New Jersey, which has two big superstars such as Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, who are local and would have done just fine.

On Sunday, we got our answer when the 28-year-old got a MetLife Stadium packed with fans singing and dancing to his catchy tunes.

One of the youngest performers of Halftime shows, Bruno Mars is not as well known to older viewers and many were asking just who this shaggy musician is.

But he seems to have silenced many of the skeptics that were doubting the Super Bowl show would be any good.

Those of us who are familiar with Bruno Mars, his music, and live performances, never had any doubt that this 2014 Super Bowl would have one of the best musical performances at the half.

On the 10th year anniversary of Janet Jackson’s infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during her performance with Justin Timberlake (yes, that was 10-years-ago) and in a year that has seen more headlines for scandalous musical numbers such as the infamous Miley Cyrus twerking on the MTV VMAs last year and Lady Gaga’s nearly nude appearance on the same show, Bruno Mars is proving he can also grab headlines with a solid, old-fashioned, retro show.

In the last few years, we’ve seen some controversial numbers at the Halftime Shows and some that just din’t deliver the quality that viewers were expecting or were tailored to a small segment of the population, leaving thousands scratching their heads as to why they were chosen to begin with.

Even though, Bruno Mars is a name that today’s generation is very familiar with, many others do not know him and never have seen him perform, but whatever opinion one holds on this versatile artist, nobody can deny the talent.

In the short time of time he had to do his thing, Mars gave us a snippet of his many talents, not only singing — with incredible range — but playing drums and dancing in a style reminiscent of James Brown at the height of his popularity.

Bruno Mars is all the talk this Monday after the Super Bowl, almost as much as the final score, and the Super Bowl ads. Check out the Twitter timeline, which is currently on fire:

It was refreshing to see Bruno Mars put together a number actually focused on music, rather than questionable behavior for the sake of getting attention at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. What did you think?
