Justin Bieber’s DUI Arrest Nadir Is Here: Beer, Pot, Prescription Drugs

Justin Bieber’s mug shot emerges after his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) in Miami Beach, Florida, after police stopped him while drag-racing on a residential street early Thursday morning.

The teen star failed a sobriety test at the scene, say authorities.

Sky News reports the singer admitted to police that he had been drinking beer, and taken a combination of marijuana and prescription pills before allegedly drag-racing.

Update: Two breath tests performed on Bieber indicate his blood alcohol level after his arrest was 0.014 and 0.011, which is consistent with very low alcohol intake.

Both would be below the general.08% legal limit for drivers and Florida’s.02% limit for drivers under the legal drinking age of 21.

The DUI arrest report can be read here. Justin was arrested at 04:13 am.

Earlier Bieber appeared in a filmed court hearing before a judge and was released under a $2,500 bond. He made no comment during the hearing.

The Canadian was escorted from jail by correctional officers before climbing on top of a waiting SUV to wave to fans, Reuters reports.

Bieber was charged at Miami Beach police station for DUI, resisting arrest without violence, and driving without a valid license out of the state of Georgia.

The 19-year-old was driving a rented yellow Lamborghini at the time of his arrest and was seen racing a Red Ferrari driven by pal and R&B singer, Def Jam artist Khalil Amir Sharief, at around 4 am, police and multiple outlets report.

In a press conference today Miami Beach Chief of Police Raymond Martinez told waiting press: “He did acknowledge that he did take a prescription medication and that he had been smoking marijuana and that he did consume a beer,” Sky News reports.

Martinez also said Bieber had been “belligerent,” “incoherent,” and had used some “choice words” when he was arrested but was not violent.

Martinez previously told the Miami Herald that after he refused to get out of the Lamborghini when asked to by arresting officers, the singer also refused to remove his hands from his pockets and fired a a string of F-bombs at officers.

“I immediately smelled the odor of alcohol emanating from the driver’s breath,” wrote Officer Medina [his full name is not in the arrest report,] also noting Bieber’s “bloodshot eyes.”

The policeman said Bieber was making “slow, deliberate” movements and had a “stupor look on his face.”

“What the f*** did I do? Why did you stop me?” Bieber told Medina when asked to exit the yellow Lamborghini.

When the officer tried to perform a routine pat down, the teen star took his hands off the car against orders and told the officer,

“I ain’t got no f—ing weapons. Why do you have to search me. What the f**k is this about?”

At that point, the officer “grabbed his right hand and stated to him that he was under arrest.”

The officer said Bieber continued resisting arrest, “by pulling his right arm away as he stated, ‘What the f**k are you doing?'”

Bieber was finally tamed with the help of a second officer.

The singer reportedly insisted he was not drunk and was coming back from recording music at a studio, but reports indicate he was at Miami’s SET nightclub before the drag-race.

Bieber was processed at West Miami-Dade’s county jail after being driven in a white police van from Miami Beach Police station, where he failed a Breathalyser test and was initially booked.

Under Florida law when an individual is booked for driving under the influence, they are held for eight hours to ensure substances have left their system. It’s estimated Justin spent around ten hours during the whole arrest to bond timeline.

The Miami Herald reports Bieber and his friends used their cars to block off traffic on Pine Tree Drive at 26th Street, a residential area in Miami, effectively creating a drag strip for the Khalil and the superstar, who also had a model by the name of Chantal Jeffries sitting in the passenger seat of the Lamborghini.

Police arrested both Bieber and Khalil and their rented cars were towed from the scene.

It’s reported Justin’s father, Jeremy, 38, was in the Set nightclub with his son and allegedly knew he had taken drugs and alcohol before the drag-race. It’s alleged Jeremy also helped block the Miami street before the race.

The singer’s arrest is the nadir on a 2013 brimful of now explainable bizarre incidents both on and off his Believe world tour.

These range from late concerts, a pile-up of alleged disputes with paparazzi, visits to strip clubs, and a brothel in Rio, Brazil, where he was also charged with vandalism for spray-painting graffiti on the wall of a disused private hotel. The singer was also filmed urinating into a New York restaurant mop bucket.

Other incidents include a tour drug bust for marijuana, in which a stun gun was also found in April in Stockholm, Sweden, during a tour stop, the seizure of his former pet monkey “Mally” in Munich after he failed to provide travel and health documentation, amid multiple reports of underage drinking and clubbing.

More recently a number of reports claimed Bieber is dependent on “sizzurp” also known as “lean” and “purple drank” – a cough syrup base containing codeine and promethazine to which users add candy and fizzy drinks. Risks include seizure, respiratory problems, and even death if taken in high doses or regularly mixed with alcohol.

A full explain of the dangers of “sizzurp” use are laid out at USA TODAY.

E! News recently reported the singer’s team have been advising the singer to seek professional help, including rehab.

“Justin’s team has been encouraging him to go to rehab for a while,” the source told E! “He won’t listen to his team.”

The insider continued, “His ego has gotten out of control,” adding, “Lil Za, Milk, and Lil Twist are particularly bad influences on him.”

Today Billy Bush, a presenter on Access Hollywood Live tweeted:

On Tuesday, January 14, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies raided Bieber’s Calabasas, California, residence looking for evidence to connect the star to an egg-throwing incident at his neighbor’s house on January 9.

Bieber is a named suspect in the ongoing felony vandalism and assault investigation.

Bieber has been in Miami since Monday after flying in from Aspen, Colorado, where he had been snowboarding with pals. The pop singer reportedly dropped $75,000 at Miami’s Urban King of Diamonds strip club where he celebrated the 30th birthday of rapper Lil Scrappy and Martin Luther King Day.

The heartthrob spent Wednesday day on Miami Beach riding a Segway with his father and friends, skateboarding at Lil Wayne’s skate park, shooting hoops, and spray-painting graffiti.

Ironically, many believe this bottoming out is exactly what needed to happen to Bieber so that he can get the help he clearly needs.

Sentiments echoed by the fallen pop prince’s ex-vocal coach, Jan Smith, and television host Ellen DeGeneres, who earlier tweeted:
