Alison Sweeney Bids Farewell To ‘Days Of Our Lives,’ Twitter Says Goodbye

Alison Sweeney is bidding farewell to the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, a program she’s called home for over two decades.

Not surprisingly, a lot of folks are more than a little depressed that the actress is saying goodbye to the series after 21 years. Since fans have grown attached to Sami Brady during her 1,600-plus appearances on the soap, they’re understandably shocked that Sweeney decided to part ways with the show.

“I’ve been on ‘Days of Our Lives’ since I was 16 years old, and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it,” Alison Sweeney explained.

The actress is saying goodbye to Days of Our Lives because she wants to spend time with her children. Not only is Sweeney busy hosting the reality series The Biggest Loser, she’s also putting the finishing touches on the sequel to her novel The Star Attraction.

“My best friend is a publicist, that was certainly the inspiration for writing about that perspective on the industry. I have lots of personal stories that contributed to the ‘red carpet’ stories etc., but ultimately, I think that, mostly, being on daytime television for more than 20 years gave me the basis to want to write my own story,” Sweeney said of her first novel.
