Brock Lesnar MMA Return ‘Possible,’ Says Dana White

Brock Lesnar might be in line for a stunning return to MMA, after UFC president Dana White admitted that he has held talks with the athlete.

White revealed that Lesnar “regrets” the way that he left the sport, and that a return to MMA is a “definite possibility”

Lesnar had to deal with diverticulitis, a debilitating gastrointestinal disease, for most of his stint with the MMA, and White has said that he often wonders how different the former WWE star’s career would have been if he’d never had the illness.

On Wednesday, White remarked, ” It was fun having Brock here. He has some regrets and would he like to fight again? I’m sure he would. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out.”

White also stated, “Do we talk? Yeah, me and Brock talk. I said recently that he’s said that he has some regrets with MMA because he wasn’t healthy because he was going through those stomach problems the whole time that he was here. So he has regrets.”

He added, “He thinks a Brock Lesnar who is 100-percent could have done much better. I told him, you’re out of your (expletive) mind. You came in here with one fight and you became the heavyweight champion.”

White admits that he too has thought about what Lesnar could have achieved in the sport without his physical hindrance.

“It’s interesting. He became the heavyweight champion with diverticulitis. What would he have done without it? And he was, from the first day that he fought in the UFC until his last fight, he was suffering from it,” noted White. “He never felt right and just didn’t know why, and then it really hit him. So he feels like he was fighting here at 40-percent.”

Lesnar had a rather startling start to his MMA career. In November 2008 he defeated UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture in just his third fight to win the heavyweight title.

Lesnar defended his belt twice, however in October 2009 he was forced to pull out of a clash with Shane Carwin because of illness, which was later diagnosed as diverticulitis.

Because of his absence an interim title was created. Lesnar never reclaimed the title though, and after tow back-to-back losses he retired from the sport in December 2011.

Lesnar is reportedly under contract with the WWE until 2015, and rumors continue to circulate that he might be in line for a match at Wrestlemania 27, which will see him take on The Undertaker.
