Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander Visit ‘Seinfeld’ Diner

Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander were caught venturing into Tom’s Restaurant in New York City, the setting for their hit 1990 sitcom, Seinfeld.

Of course, this image, which was captured by Twitter user @ClubAliP, instantly sent the internet into a frenzy. The duo were spotted simply strolling into the Upper West Side diner, where we can only assume that they talked about nothing, drank coffee and waited for Julia-Louis Dreyfuss and Michael Richards to turn up.

It’s also been revealed that a camera crew entered the establishment with the two actors. Were the pair recording a new episode of Seinfeld? Almost certainly not.

What’s more likely is that Alexander was the latest guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s web series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, while it’s also been suggested that they were recording a Super Bowl commercial.

It’s been confirmed that Seinfeld co-creator, Larry David, also visited Tom’s Restaurant too. David left Seinfeld after its seventh season, and the hugely popular sitcom lasted until 1998.

@ClubAliP originally uploaded the following tweet informing the world of what she’d witnessed:

She was then backed up by Ethan Wu, who wrote:

Gothamist’s Ben Yakas has since reported that Tom’s was actually closed for a few hours while Seinfeld and Alexander filmed inside. They had cables running into the restaurant and they had their shades down so people were unable to look inside.

Of course, Alexander and Seinfeld’s characters on the show, the infamous George Costanza and Jerry Seinfeld, were never actually shown entering the establishment on the NBC comedy. So, who knows, maybe this was the first time that the duo went inside the New York landmark, which is located on 112th street and Broadway.

Later, Seinfeld was accosted by local journalists as he exited Tom’s:

Twitter user Alex Kalicki also speculated that the pair were actually filming a Super Bowl commercial, rather than an episode of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee:

Seinfeld recently announced that he is currently working on new project with Larry David, and rumors suggest that they are writing a Broadway play together. Fingers crossed it’s Rochelle, Rochelle.
