Jennifer Lawrence Takes AP's Top Entertainer Honors As The World Hungers For The Girl On Fire

Jennifer Lawrence is on top of the 2013 entertainment world according to the Associated Press (and anyone with half a brain and at least one eye open).

A collection of 70 of the AP's editors cast ballots in the annual entertainment survey, 15 of which went to Jennifer Lawrence, allowing her to edge out Miley Cyrus by a single vote (no offense to the queen of twerk and scandal, but really?!‽). Netflix notched 13 votes for "altering the TV landscape with its on-demand format and hit original series."

Lawrence's year began with an Oscar for Best Actress at the 85th Annual Academy Awards for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. And while Jennifer's role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire isn't completely lighting up the awards scene as much (the film is nominated for Best Action Movie at the 2014 Critics' Choice Awards, as is Lawrence for Best Actress in an Action Movie), it did set the box office ablaze, raking in $371 million to date as the second-highest grossing movie in 2013, behind Iron Man 3.

Then there's the matter of Jennifer Lawrence's sultry turn in American Hustle, considered "a lock" by Indiewire for a Best Actress nomination at next year's Oscars, as is the film itself for Best Picture, by general consensus.

So what makes Jennifer Lawrence the top entertainer? A lot of her star power comes from her candor and sincerity, essentially eschewing "typical" celebrity behavior by being down-to-earth, accessible, and eminently human.

Of course, being drop-dead gorgeous isn't hurting Jennifer Lawrence in her quest to win the world's collective heart. Nor does this adorable moment when Jennifer leaves the red carpet to visit with and hug a fan.

"It's refreshing to see a young woman not squandering her talent and success by succumbing to the temptations many do in Hollywood and who actively speaks about the ridiculous behavior of some of her peers," opines Kristi Runyan of The Derrick and The News-Herald in Oil City, Penn.
