Katy Perry Says ‘Who Do You Love’ Video Is More Realistic Than ‘Bound 2’

Katy Perry and John Mayer recently gave Kanye West and Kim Kardashian a run for their money in the romantic music video department when they unleashed “Who You Love” earlier this month. Who reigned supreme really depends on your personal taste.

Instead of riding on a fake motorcycle in front of a green screen, Perry and Mayer decided to hang out on a mechanical bull. Both singers also manage to keep their clothes on for the duration of the clip. What’s more, Katy believes her musical endeavor is a bit more believable than West and Kardashian’s effort.

“Was it your response to Kim and Kanye’s ‘Bound 2’?” DeGeneres jokingly asked.

“Yes. I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction, though,” Katy Perry remarked.

She added, “We did it in one day, and they were real-life couples — all of us — and they were put on a bull and just shot in slow motion.”

In case you’ve been hidden under a very large rock over the past several weeks, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West decided to express their love for one another in the music video for “Bound 2.” The popular clip finds the rapper riding a motorcycle while his bride-to-be straddles him without a shirt.

Not surprisingly, anyone with even the slightest comedic bone in their body decided to issue a parody of the clip online. While Katy Perry and John Mayer’s probably isn’t a legitimate response, there’s no shortage of parodies currently floating around YouTube at the moment. Some are certainly better than others.

However, it doesn’t get much better than the parody from Seth Rogen and James Franco. Not only is the clip a shot-for-shot parody, the guys seem to take their effort very seriously. Take a moment out of your busy schedule to take a look at the spoof embedded below.

Mechanical bulls and Kanye West videos weren’t the only topics Katy Perry and Ellen DeGeneres discussed during their recent chat. The pair also discussed what the “Roar” singer and John Mayer do during their free time at home. Hint: Think iPads and Pictionary.

“We have a lot of fun. We have music as an understanding and love between each other, and we connect. It’s like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it’s been tough, I don’t really have to go into it. He just gets it. So it’s nice with that understanding,” the singer explained.
