Steve Martin Tweets Racist Joke, Immediately Deletes It [Video]

Steve Martin, once a beloved face on Saturday Night Live, is in hot water for a racist joke that he tweeted out last night. He hoped to avoid any criticism for it by immediately deleting the joke but it didn’t work out the way it was supposed to because it got out to the Twitter universe before it was totally gone.

Martin was going back and forth with on of his 4.5 million Twitter followers when he was asked the question “Is this how you spell Losonia?”

Martin replied:

“It depends. Are you in an African-American neighborhood or at an Italian restaurant?”

He immediately realized that it was not very politically correct to write such a thing and deleted it but not before a few of his followers took screen shots of the rude joke.

Martin immediately took some abuse from some of his fans for the joke, but he just ignored it as if he never did it in the first place.

Martin was back online Tweeting to his followers this morning without any further mention of the incident.

Steve Martin has also recently been in the news to answer rumors that he and Khloe Kardashian were a couple. Of course the only media outlets spreading the rumors that they were dating were from Martin’s own Twitter account but that made the rumors easy to squash. He claimed he was going to name his next album “Just Friends with Khloé Kardashian”.

Do you think that Steve Martin’s joke was uncalled for or that he should apologize for it?
